Google silently sneaking into Vista
Last year I pointed to the fact that Google is trying to impose their search engine into Internet Explorer 7. At that moment it didn’t seem such a big deal because I thought (and I still do) that Mozilla’s Firefox will get a bigger market share.
Today while reading a good post on Vista’s UI by Luke Wroblewski, the things gotclearer and the big picture revealed. Windows Explorer is based on Internet Explorer and Vista’s WE will be based on IE7 by that having a search box on the right top corner. Considering the fact that on Vista, to local search results will be added web results AND maybe advertising, a competitor winning that litlle corner will hit Microsoft just below the belt.
By the moment Vista will be officialy launched I bet that the Google Desktop will perfectly work with it and more and more regular Joe’s will use it.
Nice one Google

Internet Explorer is an extension to windows explorer and not the other way around.
But google taking over search functionality in Vista is an very interesting thought, although i wonder if microsoft would allow it (EULA?)

I’m really kinda getting tired of Google. They’re becoming a new Microsoft with their bullying ways. From a business perspective, yes they are playing it smart. I guess I’m just old fashioned as I still believe in ethics in the marketplace. With all of that said, Microsoft wouldn’t allow the integration unless there was some compelling business reason for them to do it. Of course, it’s a no-brainer for them to want to partner with Google.
My two cents worth.
